FAMILIA: Cerambycidae LUNGIMEA CORPULUI: 18-30 mm SPECII SIMILARE: Cerambyx (Cerambyx) cerdo, care are corpul mai mare (41-55 mm), iar elitrele sunt brun-roşcate la vârf COMPORTAMENT: adulţii sunt activi în timpul zilei, în perioada (aprilie) mai-august; pe vreme însorită, pot fi adesea văzuţi hrănindu-se pe inflorescenţele plantelor; adulţii posedă pe abdomen structuri specializate cu ajutorul cărora produc stridulaţii

IDENTIFICARE: are elitrele negricioase, lucioase, grosier şi neregulat sculptate, rotunjite la vârf; pronotul, cu câte un tubercul cu vârful ascuţit pe flancuri, este adânc şi neregulat brăzdat; antenele negre, au segmentele îngroşate la vârf, ultimele acoperite de peri fini cenuşii, iar la mascul mult mai lungi decât corpul, la femelă cam de aceeaşi lungime cu a corpului HABITAT: păduri de foioase STRATEGII DE REPRODUCERE: femela depune ouăle în crăpăturile adânci din scoarţa arborilor

HRANA ADULȚILOR: polenul şi nectarul florilor (Rosa canina, Apiaceae, Sambucus nigra, Crataegus, Cornus, Viburnum opulus), seva arborilor
